Tottenham are aiming to be proactive in January and back Thomas Frank with new signings
Tottenham have endured a brilliant start to the new season under Thomas Frank. The Lilywhites have already won four of their opening five games, scoring nine goals and conceding just one along the way. Not only that, but the North London club sits joint-top of the Premier League table, reassuring fans that they are heading in the right direction.
The collective effort to carve out positive results by Thomas Frank’s men is certainly commendable. The players are showing grit and hunger to build on their Europa League success, with the Danish tactician showcasing his tactical fluidity against solid oppositions.

Credit where its due, most of the summer signings have also hit the ground running for the Lilywhites. The attack is looking stronger with each passing game, with the defence showcasing their resilience against tricky opponents. However, the North London club do need a new midfielder in January if they really want to take the next step and compete hard on all four fronts this season.
Tottenham eyeing a January move for Conor Gallagher
With Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur facing uncertain futures at N17, Spurs are already lining up a replacement for the second half of the season. Earlier reports suggest that the Lilywhites are willing to rekindle their interest in Atletico Madrid star Conor Gallagher. Tottenham view him as an ideal candidate to play the #8 role, and are also preparing to put in a compelling offer of around £45m for his services.
The Lilywhites have now received an update on Gallagher’s uncertain future at Atleti. As per Graeme Bailey (via TBR Football),
“As with many players at this moment in time, the World Cup is an added complication or worry. Gallagher is one of those players, who if playing regularly, at his best, would be firmly in contention for his national side – so that issue can’t be overlooked.”
The journalist adds,
“I am told the player would dearly like to make it back into the Atletico Madrid side and that is his priority, but clubs are paying real interest to him and he is very much one to keep an eye on for January.”
Conor Gallagher has fallen down the pecking order under Diego Simeone this season. The England international did start the game against Liverpool in the Champions League, but the arrival of Johnny Cardoso has meant that he is no longer the first-choice pick for the #8 role.
With the World Cup coming up next year, Gallagher wants to play regularly so that he can be considered for England’s squad for the tournament. As of now, he is not getting regular minutes at Atleti, with a move away from the Spanish giants increasingly looking like the best option. With Tottenham lining up a January move, it will not be a bad idea for the Englishman to come back to the Premier League and be a prominent figure under Thomas Frank.
The only problem for Spurs would be to fend off competition from Newcastle United and Manchester United for his signature. So, the Lilywhites need to be proactive and put in a considerable offer to lure Gallagher away from Atletico Madrid. Will the new hierarchy be able to do that? Only time will tell.
