Tottenham can surprise a few if they continue performing well in the Premier League this season
It’s safe to say Tottenham fans are thoroughly enjoying their side’s impressive run of form in the Premier League this season. The Lilywhites have lost just once in their opening seven league matches, a defeat that came against Bournemouth when the Cherries comprehensively outplayed Thomas Frank’s men at N17. Credit where it’s due, though — the Danish tactician managed to steady the ship quickly after that humbling loss in August.
Spurs’ latest triumph came away from home against Leeds United, where they showed tremendous resilience to grind out all three points and end the weekend just two points behind league leaders Arsenal. The result was another indication of how far the North London club has come under Frank’s guidance in such a short period of time.

Heading into the clash at Elland Road, Tottenham were under pressure after back-to-back draws in the Premier League. Many fans were understandably sceptical about their chances, but the Lilywhites rose to the occasion and delivered a strong performance when it mattered most. As the international break approaches, Frank will be keen to ensure that his players stay grounded and maintain their focus, avoiding any hint of complacency.
Tottenham are not in the running to challenge for the PL title
After looking at the Premier League table, it is hard to believe that Tottenham are just two points below league leaders Arsenal. Their improvement this season has been undeniable, built on a foundation of discipline, determination, and consistency. However, the table does not quite tell the full story. Despite their encouraging start, the North London club remains a work in progress and they are not yet ready to mount a genuine title challenge.
Chris Sutton has echoed the same sentiment when asked about Spurs’ chances of winning the Premier League. Speaking on BBC Match of the Day (via X), Sutton said,
“Spurs cannot challenge for the title. Do you think they can really? I think they’re miles behind Arsenal. I think they’ll be in the top six certainly, but not win the title.”
Sutton’s assessment is hard to argue with. Arsenal, under Mikel Arteta, are deep into their long-term project and have built a squad capable of challenging at the very top. In contrast, Thomas Frank is still in the early stages of shaping Tottenham in his image, and that process will take time.
That said, Sutton’s prediction of a top-six finish for Spurs feels entirely realistic. The Lilywhites have shown enough quality and attacking depth to compete for a Champions League place this season. If they can maintain their current form, Frank’s side could very well secure a return to Europe’s elite competition next season – a clear sign of progress in his debut campaign at N17.
