Thomas Frank wants Tottenham to focus on bringing in attacking reinforcements in January

Date:

Thomas Frank is looking to add more depth to his attacking line in the upcoming transfer window

Tottenham continue to go from strength to strength under Thomas Frank this season. The Lilywhites are on a seven-game unbeaten run across all competitions, a stretch that has propelled them to third place in the Premier League table. Under Frank’s guidance, there is a newfound sense of structure and calm at N17. The players also seem to understand their roles better, and the team are playing with far more cohesion and control.

However, one concern continues to linger for the north London club, their lack of goals in the attacking third. Despite a productive summer transfer window, Tottenham’s forward line has yet to truly click. The club invested heavily to strengthen their attack, bringing in Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons, and Randal Kolo Muani in an effort to build on last season’s Europa League success and add more firepower to Frank’s set-up.

Yet, even with those additions, Spurs have struggled to convert their dominance into goals. Strikingly, their top scorer so far this season is own goals, a statistic that underlines how blunt their attack has been. If Tottenham are serious about competing on all four fronts this season, they will need to address that issue decisively in the January transfer window.

Tottenham have work to do in the January transfer window

In a major boost, the Lewis family recently announced a £100 million investment in the club, specifically aimed at strengthening the squad through transfers and wages. While the amount may seem modest compared to some of their Premier League rivals, it provides Spurs with ample financial muscle to pursue attacking reinforcements in the upcoming window.

Adding to the optimism, reliable journalist James Davies (via X) reported that Tottenham are already planning to bolster their front line in January. The Lilywhites have no intention of being complacent and are prepared to allocate a significant portion of the new £100 million investment towards new attacking signings.

It comes as no surprise that Spurs are monitoring some of the most promising forwards in Europe. Currently, Thomas Frank has Richarlison and Dominic Solanke competing for the number nine role, but both have struggled with inconsistency and fitness issues, leaving the side without a dependable goal threat.

Recent reports suggest that Spurs are looking to address the attacking problems by trying to land Porto striker Samu Aghehowa in January. The Spain international has repeatedly shown he belongs in Europe’s top leagues, and a deal is there to be struck if the Lilywhites offer the right price for his services. Bringing in a new striker would surely turn Tottenham from top-four contenders into title challengers in the Premier League in the coming years.
