“Proof will be in the pudding”- Lewis family keen to make a point as ambitious Tottenham plans take shape

Tottenham Hotspur are aiming to build on last season’s Europa League success this time season

Tottenham Hotspur are eager to build on last season’s Europa League success. The Lilywhites cannot afford to let this opportunity slip away if they truly aim to close the gap on their rivals this time around. If the North London club wants to be recognised among Europe’s elite, it must go all in and prioritise sporting success over the coming years.

That ambition is precisely why the Lewis family decided to relieve Daniel Levy of his duties as the club’s Executive Chairman. During his 24-year tenure at N17, Levy focused heavily on transforming Spurs into a commercial powerhouse. To his credit, he ultimately achieved that goal but it came at a cost. In pursuing financial growth, Tottenham lost much of their footballing identity and fell short of the on-pitch success their fans longed for.

The Lewis family need to walk the talk to win over the Tottenham fans again.

Now, the Lewis family have a golden opportunity to reshape that narrative and steer the club back toward genuine footballing progress. The ENIC stakeholders recently injected £100 million into Tottenham to ensure that Thomas Frank receives proper backing in the upcoming transfer window. The investment will be used solely for player signings and wages, signalling a clear intent to correct past mistakes and strengthen the team where it matters most—on the pitch.

The Lewis family want to put Tottenham back on the map

The Lewis family also made headlines after reportedly rejecting a £4.5 billion takeover bid from tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick. Accepting the offer would have resulted in a massive profit for ENIC and marked the largest sale of a football club in history. Instead, they turned it down, reassuring supporters that they are committed to overseeing Tottenham’s revival themselves in the years ahead.

However, reliable journalist Sami Mokbel believes the Lewis family still have a lot to do before winning over the fans at N17. Writing for the BBC, he said,

“For their part, they are certainly making the right noises. The decision for long-serving executive chairman Daniel Levy to stand down in September came with the message that it was a move taken with a view to improving sporting success.”

The journalist added,

“The Lewis family’s firm insistence that the club is not for sale also lends itself to the growing sense that the new regime is fully committed to driving on the field improvements. The proof will be in the pudding, of course, but so far, the indications appear to be positive.”

Sami Mokbel believes the Lewis family’s recent decisions suggest a genuine desire to restore Tottenham’s winning mentality. ENIC’s rejection of the takeover bid reinforces the notion that the owners want to be the ones responsible for bringing silverware back to N17 and reviving the club’s legacy at Hotspur Way. That said, they still have work to do to earn the trust and confidence of the fanbase.

For now, the main focus for the club’s hierarchy should be to back Thomas Frank in the upcoming transfer window. The Danish tactician has endured a brilliant start to the new season by helping Spurs climb up to third on the Premier League table. So, the onus is on ENIC to bring in reinforcements in the winter and help Frank continue this momentum as the campaign progresses.
