Vinai Venkatesham lays down Tottenham Hotspur objectives; success the new mantra at N17

The Lewis family want to focus on sporting success at Tottenham as club prepares for the Thomas Frank era at N17

Tottenham ended their long-awaited trophy drought last season by winning the Europa League against all odds. The historic triumph not only brought long-overdue silverware to N17 but also secured the Lilywhites a return to the Champions League, despite finishing just one place above the relegation zone in the Premier League. Now, the responsibility falls on Thomas Frank and the club’s hierarchy to build on that success and take the next step forward.

Frank has already made his ambitions for the season clear. The Danish tactician wants Tottenham to compete on all fronts, with the goal of going deep into at least one cup competition while securing a top-half finish in the Premier League by next summer.

The former Brentford boss has also received strong backing from the board. The Lewis family recently invested £100 million into the club, with the funds allocated specifically for player transfers and wages. The message from the top is clear: Tottenham are no longer content with mediocrity. The North Londoners are intent on closing the gap on their rivals and re-establishing themselves among the Premier League’s elite.

Tottenham aiming to be regular challengers for major trophies under Thomas Frank

This summer’s transfer business has reflected that ambition. Spurs have made a clear statement of intent by backing Thomas Frank with significant reinforcements, bringing in top-quality players to strengthen the squad. The focus for the Danish manager now is to take the next step — to transform Tottenham from hopeful contenders into consistent winners during his tenure at N17.

Spurs CEO Vinai Venkatesham has echoed similar ambitions when outlining his vision for the club’s future. Speaking at the club’s Fan Forum, Venkatesham said,

“We want a team that is competing for the biggest trophies in the game. We want to have teams that are qualifying regularly for Champions League football. We want our teams to be playing the type of football that are supporters expect us to play.”

The club’s CEO added,

“And we want to strengthen the connection with our supporters. Every time that we play at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, we want the opposition to be terrified.”

Venkatesham wants Tottenham to compete for regular silverware whilst qualifying for Champions League football every year. The Lilywhites should also be playing a certain type of football under Thomas Frank – something that the Dane has still not managed to achieve during his time at N17. Also, the North London club should make its home a fortress… a place where opponents dread to play.

While the vision is clear, achieving it will require time, patience, and unity. Fans must continue to back the team through the ups and downs, filling the stands and maintaining their unwavering support. For his part, Thomas Frank must keep his focus on one game at a time, ensuring the club progresses steadily without losing sight of its long-term goals.

Can Tottenham truly reach the level they aspire to under Frank’s leadership? Only time will tell.
