Tottenham Hotspur have announced changes to their leadership team as the club looks to move in a new direction. It comes after Daniel Levy’s abrupt decision to step down as the club’s executive chairman after spending 24 years in that role.

Vinai Venkatesham is tasked with leading day-to-day operations after the Lewis Family appointed him as the CEO earlier this year. Last week, Venkatesham confirmed that Fabio Paratici has returned to White Hart Lane and will act as a co-sporting director alongside Johan Lange, who was previously the technical director.

Fabio Paratici took on a role as managing director at Spurs back in the summer of 2021, having previously worked behind the scenes at Juventus. The 53-year-old was heavily involved in the transfer business done by the north London club before he was forced to step down from that role in April 2023 after being charged with financial malpractice by the Italian Football Federation over activity his time with Juventus.

It is fair to assume that Paratici will play a central role in shaping Tottenham’s transfer strategy for the January window and beyond. The Lewis Family wants to back Thomas Frank and his staff and help Spurs compete in all competition by investing £100 million into the club, with the funds specifically allotted for recruitment.

Paratici and Lange will be using the best of their expertise to utilise the fresh capital pumped into the club by the ENIC. As per recent reports, Thomas Frank wants to make additions to his attack in the January transfer window.

As such, Tottenham are looking to address their goalscoring issues by signing FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa in January. He has a £87 million release clause in his contract, and FC Porto won’t make it easy for the Europa League champions to lure him away from Estadio da Dragao. The 21-year-old has started the 2025/26 season in fantastic form with eight goals in nine appearances. And he enhanced his stock at the weekend with a hat-trick in the 4-0 win over Celoricense in the Taca de Portugal third round.

Now, according to TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, Paratici is an ‘avid admirer’ of striker Samu Aghehowa and wants to bring him to Tottenham. He is now a name added to the list of strikers the north Londoners are potentially looking to sign in 2026.

Dominic Solanke and Richarlison have not done enough to be long-term solutions for Tottenham

Aghehowa would be a top acquisition

It comes as no surprise that Spurs are monitoring some of the most promising strikers in Europe. Currently, Frank has Richarlison, Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani competing for the No.9 role, but the trio have struggled with inconsistency and fitness issues, leaving the side without a reliable goal threat.

Aghehowa, in that regard, would be ideal. He’d bring plenty of pace, power and physicality to Tottenham’s attack, whilst being an instant upgrade on Richarlison purely in terms of scoring goals. At 21, the Spaniard also fits the criteria of players Spurs have been targeting in recent years.

With Paratici an admirer of the Porto star’s talents, we expect him to push for Aghehowa’s signature when the transfer window reopens in January.
