Chelsea make an enquiry for Tottenham Hotspur target and AS Trencin prodigy Sani Suleiman
Tottenham Hotspur are constantly on the lookout for young talent across the world. They have created a pool of young talent by investing in them in recent years with an eye for the future.
One talent who is making waves across the European continent is Sani Suleiman. Tottenham are believed to be closely monitoring the Nigerian prospect and are showing keen interest in a move, having followed his performances at Slovakian side AS Trencin recently. The Lilywhites have also made enquiries about the teenager earlier this month.
Regarded as one of the best young African talents, Sani Suleiman joined AS Trencin from Nigerian side Akwa United last year. He has only gone from strength to strength this term and already registered five goal contributions in seven games across all competitions for AS Trencin. The winger is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after prospects in his age group, with the race for his signature heating up.

Chelsea join Tottenham in the mix for Sani Suleiman
Like Tottenham, Chelsea’s project also revolves around young players with immense skill, talent and ceiling. Under the regime of Todd Boehly, the Blues have been splashing the cash on the world’s best youngsters, with their scouting network tasked with finding the next breakout star.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Chelsea have joined Tottenham and several clubs in the mix for the signing of Suleiman. The Club World Cup champions have recently asked for information on the teenage prodigy, whose contract at AS Trencin expires in June 2026. However, the player and the Slovakian club hold a two-year extension option, effectively keeping him tied to the club until 2028.
Praised as ‘the most complete Under-21 winger’ in the world by the CIES Football Observatory, Suleiman was one of Nigeria’s brightest talents at the recent Under-20 World Cup. The winger impressed at the Under-20 World Cup with his speed, flair, creativity and ability to single-handedly impact games. His absence due to suspension was dearly felt in the World Cup’s Round of 16 as Nigeria were smashed by Argentina 4-0.

Bad news for Spurs?
Spurs have not been shy in dipping into the pool of prodigious youngsters, having secured a few impressive signings in recent transfer windows. Destiny Udogie, Pape Matar Sarr, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray have been shining in the first team under Thomas Frank. In Suleiman, they are now looking to add another top talent to their roster, but Chelsea entering the race is bad news for Tottenham.
That is because Chelsea have simply thrown money at youngsters with potential and signed them on long contracts in recent years. It has been their transfer model and strategy under Boehly’s leadership, and while it did irk a certain portion of the fans over this approach, there are some youngsters who are now starting to come of age for Enzo Maresca’s side.
There appears to be something special about Suleiman, and the amount of interest in the African speedster shows that. A teenager with tremendously high ceiling, the AS Trencin starlet is bound to be appealed by the prospect of playing in the Premier League. It could come down to the project presented by Tottenham and Chelsea, and if we manage to secure his signature, the deal could prove to be a masterstroke in the long run.
