Tottenham Hotspur could end up losing Antoine Semenyo to Liverpool next January
Tottenham need to find a way to rescue their season from collapsing after a string of disappointing results under Thomas Frank. The Lilywhites’ struggles at home continued with a defeat against Aston Villa in the Premier League last weekend, followed by an even more uninspiring display against AS Monaco in the Champions League.
Despite losing only two matches in all competitions this season, there are several glaring issues in the squad that must be addressed urgently. The attacking line, in particular, needs reinforcements in January if Spurs are serious about competing on all fronts. The absence of a natural left-winger is a growing concern and could come back to haunt Frank if it remains unresolved.

In hindsight, the decision not to bring in a replacement for Heung-Min Son during the summer now looks like a major mistake. At present, Frank has no player capable of replicating the legendary winger’s impact. Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons have struggled to make the left-wing role their own, while Brennan Johnson has also failed to impress on that side, and understandably so, given his natural position as a right-winger.
Tottenham may miss out on Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo in the winter
Thomas Frank is determined to build on last season’s Europa League success and compete across all competitions this year. However, to achieve that, Tottenham will likely need to bolster their attacking options in January and add more depth to the squad. The recent £100 million cash injection from the Lewis family could prove crucial if the North London club decide to pursue a top-quality addition in the upcoming transfer window.
Recent reports suggest that Spurs are eyeing Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo as a potential long-term replacement for Heung-Min Son. The Lilywhites reportedly see the Ghana international as an ideal fit and are prepared to go all out to secure his signature. However, the Cherries are said to be unwilling to part with the 25-year-old unless they receive an offer exceeding £70 million.
Unfortunately for Tottenham, it may already be too late to bring Semenyo to N17. According to Indykaila News (via X), the winger has informed Bournemouth of his desire to join Liverpool in January. While he was also linked with a move abroad in recent weeks, it now appears he is eager to work under Arne Slot at Anfield instead.
This development shouldn’t come as a major surprise for Spurs, who were never the frontrunners to sign the Ghanaian. The club should now turn their attention to other targets rather than waste time pursuing Semenyo. Everton attacker Iliman Ndiaye is another player under consideration. And, in all honesty, Tottenham should go all out to bring him in during the upcoming window instead.
