Tottenham urged to go all-out for “perfect signing” as Thomas Frank eyes attacking solutions

Date:

Tottenham Hotspur urged to sign Ivan Toney to solve their goalscoring problems

Tottenham’s attacking unit has yet to find its rhythm, leaving Thomas Frank facing a major dilemma heading into the second half of the campaign. The Lilywhites strengthened their forward line in the summer by signing Randal Kolo Muani, Xavi Simons, and Mohammed Kudus. However, their decision to not bring in a new out-and-out striker is now proving costly as they attempt to compete on all fronts this season.

Spurs are in desperate need of goals. Their lack of attacking threat in the final third has made them far too blunt in front of goal, with the team struggling to find the back of the net on a consistent basis. Richarlison, who started the season in excellent form, has suffered a noticeable dip in performances in recent weeks, further compounding Tottenham’s attacking woes.

Meanwhile, Dominic Solanke has been side-lined with an ongoing ankle injury, leaving Frank short of options up front. The England international is running out of time to impress his manager and could find himself dropped from the starting eleven even when he regains full fitness in the coming weeks.

Tottenham need to sign Ivan Toney in January

It is no surprise that Tottenham are looking to reinforce their attack in the January transfer window. Recent reports suggest the Lilywhites are keen to land Ivan Toney in January after identifying him as an ideal replacement of Richarlison. Thomas Frank is also keen on reuniting with the England international, and has not ruled out the prospect of the club signing the 29-year-old.

Now, Alex Crook has shared his two cents on whether Spurs should sign the Al Ahli striker or not. Speaking to talkSPORT, Crook said,

“I think the perfect signing for me for Tottenham would be Ivan Toney. How easy would it be to get him out of Saudi Arabia because of financial issues? I don’t know. But he is certainly someone who is suited to Thomas Frank. I think Tottenham fans would absolutely love him. And I think he can still do a job in the Premier League.”

Crook wants Tottenham to go all-in for Ivan Toney and bring him to N17 in the coming months. However, he also cautioned that the club must ensure the England international’s wage demands do not become a stumbling block. Still, the reliable journalist maintains that Toney would be an ideal fit under Frank and remains a valuable asset capable of thriving once again in the Premier League.

It goes without saying that Ivan Toney would be an upgrade on Richarlison at N17. The 29-year-old has already shown his qualities in the Premier League during his time at Brentford. And he has continued that form for Al Ahli as well, scoring 39 goals in 57 games for the Saudi club. He is also used to playing under Frank, so adapting to the Dane’s system will not be problem.

So, should Spurs find a way to land Ivan Toney in the winter? Or should they keep their faith in the existing players? Let us know in the comments below.
