Thomas Frank reveals Randal Kolo Muani is inching closer to starting games for Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur must be raring to get back to winning ways on Sunday when they travel to the Hill Dickson Stadium to face Everton in the Premier League.
Spurs have not recorded a victory since their 2-1 triumph over Leeds United before the international break. They hoped to build on that Leeds United result but were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa at home last weekend. Thomas Frank and Co. then travelled to France to face AS Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday, and they were fortunate to get a point thanks to goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario’s standout show.
The criticism of Thomas Frank’s safety-first approach and his team’s lack of creativity has only been intensified after the goalless draw with AS Monaco. While there are not too many positives for Spurs to take from the Monaco game, fans did get to see Randal Kolo Muani in action.

Frank provides update on Randal Kolo Muani fitness ahead of Everton game
Randal Kolo Muani, on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain, spent nearly a month on the sidelines owing to a dead leg. He returned to action last weekend and made his Premier League debut against Aston Villa. The French forward also saw minutes off the bench in the 0-0 stalemate with Monaco, replacing Richarlison up top.
After missing action for nearly a month, it is obvious Frank is building Kolo Muani’s fitness by giving him minutes off the bench. Addressing the media ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Everton, Frank was asked how close is Kolo Muani from starting games for his side. The Spurs gaffer said (h/t Football London):
“He’s definitely getting closer. It’s the first time he’s had a sustained block of training and minutes. He can’t be bombarding 90 minutes again and again but he can be used, which is good news.”
Frank happy with Kolo Muani’s progress
Considering how poor most of the players were against Monaco in the Champions League, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Frank ring changes to his starting XI on Sunday. Kolo Muani’s return to fitness has come at the right time amid Richarlison’s struggles to produce impactful performances. The Frenchman can play off the left and through the middle, which bodes well for the Danish tactician.
However, the 26-year-old is not yet ready to start games for Tottenham. Plus, Frank has admitted that the versatile forward cannot play 90 minutes at this moment. So, we are likely to see Kolo Muani get 20-25 minutes off the bench again, with Richarlison leading the attack against the Toffees.
The sooner Kolo Muani gets back his rhythm and sharpness, the better it will be for the north Londoners ahead of a packed fixture schedule.
