Thomas Frank handed triple Tottenham injury boost ahead of Carabao Cup tie vs Newcastle United
Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a brilliant showing against Everton at the weekend. And such a strong away performance should make the North Londoners expect to set the tone for the ongoing week and the challenges that the North Londoners are to face this midweek. The Lilywhites are set to face Newcastle United as Thomas Frank’s men resume Carabao Cup duties.
Thomas Frank provides key injury updates

The Dane head coach has provided some positive news on the injury side of things ahead of the League Cup clash. The trio of skipper Cristian Romero, full‑back Destiny Udogie and forward Dominic Solanke are taking steps in the right direction, as all of them are a little closer to returning from their spell on the sidelines.
Speaking to the reporters ahead of the game, the former Brentford manager said (via. club’s official website):
“No, all good from the guys that played yesterday. Dom stepped forward, step by step. Cuti on the pitch today, not a timeframe. Destiny on the pitch as well today. Three steps forward.”

Cristian Romero has been serving on the sidelines with a minor adductor issue. Frank confirmed that the Argentine international has been back on the grass and training with performance staff. And while he did not give any return date for him, given from the looks of it, he shouldn’t be out for long.
Then Destiny Udogie. He picked up a knee irritation while on international duty. His consistent injuries for the past year or so are now a massive thing of frustration for the Lilywhites supporters. But Frank confirmed that he is coming through with his recovery. And while he will not be a feature this midweek, he is also taking positive steps behind the scenes.
Dominic Solanke was supposed to be out for a short while. But he underwent minor ankle surgery, and he has been serving the treatment room since August. And while he is making incremental progress, there is also no firm comeback date yet around him.

This is a solid update from Frank. Three high-profile players are nearing return for the North Londoners. Now we have to see how quickly they step up from their individual recoveries to full training and into the matchday squad.
Given that the games are coming in almost every three days, Thomas Frank has to balance his depth. He needs to rotate his squad a bit and use his depth to maintain fitness. And these aforementioned returns aid in ensuring that no player is run into the field.
