Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo ruptures his ACL in the 2-1 loss to Juventus
Tottenham transfer target Nicolo Zaniolo will require surgery after he suffered an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament in the 2-1 loss to Juventus, according to the Guardian.
The prodigious 20-year-old attacker is now ruled out for the rest of the season and is extremely likely to miss out on the Euros in the summer. He is also said to have damaged the meniscus in his right knee.
The injury came when the player was body checked by Matthijs De Ligt, who had come on for the injured Merih Demiral. The youngster has made 24 appearances for Roma this season and has scored 6 goals and 3 assists. (h/t Whoscored)
The versatile attacker was a key component in both Roma and Italy’s hopes, and both sides will greatly miss his abilities. He has been one of Roma’s standout players this season and a lot was expected of him at the Euros.
