Tottenham ready to pay £22m for Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi
Tottenham Hotspur are ready to pay £22m for Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi as Jose Mourinho eyes attacking reinforcements in the summer window, according to reports in Turkey (h/t Evening Standard).
Muriqi, 25, joined Fenerbahce only last summer. The Kosovan international has been in fine form for the Turkish giants in his debut season. So far, Muriqi has netted 15 goals and set up 6 more in 28 matches across all competitions for Fenerbahce.
Muriqi had been linked with a move to Tottenham in the January transfer window as well, as Mourinho sought a new striker to provide cover for Harry Kane (h/t Evening Standard).
However, no move materialized back then. But given our struggles in the attacking department over the past few months, it is imperative that the club bring in a new striker.
Indeed, Tottenham have suffered in the absence of Kane, who picked up a serious injury in January. It didn’t help matters that Son Heung-min and Steven Bergwijn were also put on the treatment tables soon after. This left the lack of depth in our attacking department brutally exposed.
This is a key issue that Mourinho is understood to be intent on addressing before next season. To that end, as per the aforementioned report, Tottenham are now willing to meet Fenerbahce’s demands of £22m to sign Muriqi in the summer transfer window.

One concern in the pursuit of Muriqi could be that he has never played in any continental competition, having plied his trade mostly in Kosovo, Albania and now Turkey. So, it will be interesting to see if the club is willing to splash the cash on a player who is untested at the top level.
