Son Heung-min pictured in full military gear as he nears England return

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min has been pictured in full military gear as he undertakes his mandatory military training in South Korea.

Pictured in Seogwipo on Jeju Island, South Korea, Son is shown returning to boot camp after finishing a rifle exercise at a Marine Corps firing range.

With the football season currently suspended, the 27-year-old returned to his homeland to start a three-week period of military service.

Son would have been required by South Korean law to serve 21 months of service. However, he earned himself a reprieve by helping his national team win a gold medal at the Asian Games football tournament in 2018.

The South Korean star risks missing a return to full training as he will be subject to a 14-day quarantine when he returns to England. This will be the third such time he will have had to do it. The Spurs forward had to self-isolate in February after returning from arm surgery in his homeland. He was forced to repeat it once again in Seoul last month.

New governmental plans dictate the player to isolate once again for another 14 days. Training is scheduled to begin on May 18 amidst hopes that the division may restart on June 8. Being in quarantine will see Son miss the first week of training.

The superstar was pictured holding the weapon while wearing camouflage gear and a bulletproof helmet. He has also been exposed to tear gas, as well as completing chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear exercises.

Having also undergone discipline education, he will be ready to endure master disciplinarian Jose Mourinho’s sessions. The player’s return will be a boost for Tottenham, who failed to win any of their games since Son’s injury back in February.
