Tottenham target Nicolo Zaniolo out injured till February
According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, AS Roma attacker Nicolo Zaniolo, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham, is ruled out of action till February with a new ACL injury.
Zaniolo has grown into one of the most promising young attacking midfielders in the Serie A, since his switch from Inter Milan to AS Roma back in 2018. The Italian has grown into a key member of the team, while also breaking into the national team as well.
Even though Zaniolo endured an injury-hit 2019/20 campaign, the 21-year-old still managed to make a telling impact for Roma, contributing with eight goals and three assists.
This has led to interest in him from Tottenham Hotspur. Apart from Spurs, Serie A champions Juventus and Inter Milan had also been linked with a move for the Italian international. (h/t Football.london)
However, a summer move away from Roma this summer is pretty much ruled out as he suffered another ACL injury while on international duty with Italy. The 21-year-old had to be taken off the field in the Azzurri‘s UEFA Nations League game against Netherlands on Monday.
And now, journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Zaniolo is expected to be out till February next year.
Confirmed @SkySport. Second ACL injury for AS Roma and Italian top talent Nicolò Zaniolo in just 8 months. He’ll be out until next February. Surgery expected for tomorrow. Stay strong Nicolò 🇮🇹 #Roma #Zaniolo

It has been a difficult year for the 21-year-old. Only eight months ago he had suffered an ACL injury, and now he has once again been struck down with another serious knee injury.
It is disheartening to see a young player suffer back-to-back serious injuries which could have a dangerous impact on his future career. We wish Zaniolo a speedy recovery!
