Tottenham plan Arkadiusz Milik swoop

According to a report from the Express, Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a swoop for Napoli’s Polish centre-forward Arkadiusz Milik to add depth to the centre-forward department.

The 26-year-old Poland international has been with Napoli for four years, after having made the switch to Italy from Ajax back in 2016. He has been a consistent performer for the Partenopei over the years and has enjoyed a solid 2019/20 campaign as well.

Milik featured 34 times across all competitions in the 2019/20 campaign, bagging 14 goals in the process.

The striker is in the final year of his contract with Napoli and has informed the club that he has no intentions of penning a new deal. Juventus and AS Roma were reported to be clubs interested in taking him on, but nothing has materialised on that front. (h/t Express)

And now, Tottenham are hoping to capitalise on the Polish international’s situation by making a swoop for him. The report goes on to state that Spurs had been monitoring the 26-year-old throughout the last season and are now ready to launch a move. (h/t Express)

It is claimed that Napoli are holding out for a transfer fee of £26m for their ace striker.

Having lost out on Callum Wilson to Newcastle United and Ollie Watkins to Aston Villa, it is high time Tottenham step up the efforts to bring in a new striker. Going into the new season with Harry Kane as the only centre-forward can prove detrimental to our hopes of a top four finish.

Milik, to that end, would be a fine addition. The Polish international is entering his peak years and has plenty of top level experience in Europe. Signing him would resolve a major issue in our squad. However, given the scarcity of funds, the club might have to offload some of the fringe players before making a move.
