Cagliari show interest in Danny Rose

According to a report from Italian publication Tutto Mercato via HITC (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose has emerged as a transfer target for Serie A club Cagliari.

The 30-year-old full-back has been with the club since 2007, but has recently fallen down the pecking order. Rose was hardly used by Jose Mourinho ever since he took over the reins last November. As a result, the Englishman left to join Newcastle United on loan in January.

Now back at Tottenham, Rose finds himself behind Ben Davies, Ryan Sessegnon as well as academy ace Dennis Cerkin in the order of preference. Mourinho has used the young Cerkin more than Rose during our pre-season.

And with Rose in the final year of his contract with the club, it is time for the club to cut ties and cash in on the player. But, there has been little interest from clubs in the Premier League, which has left the Englishman in wait for offers from abroad. (h/t Evening Standard)

And now, he might have an opportunity to move to Italy, with Serie A minnows Cagliari showing an interest in the left-back. (h/t Football.london)

The club finished 14th in the Italian top flight last season, but are set for a new project under new boss Eusebio Di Francesco, who has previously managed AS Roma. Having lost Luca Pellegrini, who returned to parent club Juventus, they are in the market for a new left-back, with Rose emerging as a target. (h/t Football.london)

Rose has been a brilliant servant for Tottenham. However, over the past couple of years, things haven’t really been okay between the player and the club. Considering that his contract is up in less than twelve months, the time is ripe for the club to part ways with the England international.

However, it will be interesting to see if he is willing to make the jump to a lower mid-table Italian club this summer.
