Brendan Rodgers drops Demarai Gray exit hints amid Tottenham links

As reported by Leicestershire Live, Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that winger Demarai Gray will be on his way out of the club in the summer, amid links with Tottenham Hotspur.

The 24-year-old Gray joined Leicester from Birmingham City back in 2016. However, he hasn’t quite been able to establish himself as a regular in the side, despite spending over four years at the club.

Till date, he has featured 168 times for the Foxes, only 75 of which have been starts, scoring 13 goals and assisting 17 more. The 2019/20 campaign saw him being used sparingly by manager Rodgers.

And his fortunes have dwindled further this season, as he has played just one time across all competitions for the Foxes. Although, he does have three appearances for the U23s, in which he has scored thrice. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Reports last month indicated that Tottenham Hotspur could be in a strong position to sign the Englishman up in the near future. And, Rodgers has fuelled speculations further by insisting that the time might be right for the 24-year-old to make a new start in his career. (h/t Leicestershire Live)

“It’s pretty clear with Demarai that he’s looking to move on. He is at the stage of his career where he has been here a long time and hasn’t maybe nailed down a place. A fresh start may be the course for him.  I will never discard him but it’s looking more than likely he will probably be somewhere else next season.”

Gray may have not been able to establish himself at Leicester but remains a player with immense potential. And taking a punt on him, on a free transfer in the summer, wouldn’t be the worst move for Tottenham.
