Son Heung-min reacts after scoring 100th Tottenham goal against Leeds
As reported by Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min claimed he is happy and grateful after scoring his 100th goal for the club against Leeds United.
Tottenham rode on goals from Harry Kane, Son and Toby Alderweireld to beat Leeds 3-0 at home on Saturday afternoon. The South Korean international found the back of the net in the first half, getting on the end of a cross from Kane. In the process, he scored his 100th goal for us.
Following the game, Sonny went on to thank his teammates for the support in helping him reach the milestone.
“Obviously, I’m very happy and grateful and the team-mates that have supported me. It’s not coming automatically, on my own, I need a lot of help for this big achievement and I’m really proud. I didn’t know that. To score 100 goals with one team, it’s big and I’m really proud and grateful. It’s a good thing to start the new year.”
Son and Kane’s partnership came to the fore once again, with the duo now combining for 13 Premier League goals this season. Despite ending on the winning side, Son revealed that he was a ‘bit sad’ as he was unable to assist Kane on the day.
“We’re working hard and working through a long time, six years together, and we know each other really well. I’m a bit sad that I couldn’t give an assist today to H. Harry always finds me so for my goal, he knew I was there. Obviously, the ball was perfect to me. Sometimes it’s telepathic, sometimes we’re talking about it.”
