Tielemans’ extension at Leicester to aid Tottenham pursuit of Eriksen?
According to reliable transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Leicester City are keen to offer former Tottenham Hotspur target Youri Tielemans a new contact.
Spurs were keen on signing the player in 2019. However, he joined the Foxes initially on a loan before making the deal permanent the same year. Just 23, he is already emerging as one of the best young midfielders in the league.
That ship appears to have sailed, but now Spurs and Leicester are once again battling for another midfielder – Christian Eriksen.
Both clubs were keen on taking the 28-year-old former Spurs star on loan in January. However, neither side could agree to the terms and the interest got nowhere.
With Dele Alli’s future far from certain, it remains to be seen if Spurs will go back in for Eriksen in the summer. According to Romano, Leicester will also make a move for a midfielder. Whether that is Eriksen is anyone’s guess.
Jose Mourinho intends to give Dele Alli more chances to impress this season but was coy when asked about the player in yesterday’s presser. If the midfielder is sold in the summer, Eriksen would make an excellent replacement.
The Dane is open to a return after what has been an underwhelming spell at the San Siro. Mourinho too has given his blessings if a potential reunion is to occur.
