Jose Mourinho rules out Giovani Lo Celso for Fulham vs Tottenham

According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has ruled out Argentine playmaker Giovani Lo Celso for the midweek game against Fulham.

Lo Celso hasn’t taken the field since mid-December owing to an injury. However, there has been some positive development with his situation given that he returned to training on the field recently.

Mourinho, though, has claimed that the former Real Betis man’s injury was a big one and as a result will not be available for the league game against Fulham on Thursday evening.

“[He’s] training with the team but it was a big injury, we’re not going to risk [him] yet. In fact, we don’t want to risk, we want to bring him to the team and competition when there’s no risk.  One week, two more weeks.”

Apart from Lo Celso, Mourinho confirmed that there were no other injury concerns for Tottenham heading into the derby. The manager was also asked to provide an update on the situation of Gareth Bale and whether he could be able to play in the two remaining games this week.

“I believe so. Start the game, being on the bench, I don’t know. We have to decide. He’s such an experienced guy that of course his opinion is very important. But good reaction, good recovery sessions. He will be involved. I repeat, bench or starting, but he will be there.”
