RB Leipzig star Marcel Sabitzer addresses Tottenham Hotspur links
Speaking to BILD (h/t Express), RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has addressed speculations linking him and his manager Julian Nagelsmann to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 26-year-old Sabitzer has been with Leipzig for over five years and has grown into an integral member of the team. However, the Austrian international’s contract with the Bundesliga outfit runs out in 2022, sparking rumours about his future.
Tottenham have been touted as a club keenly interested in signing the midfielder in the upcoming transfer window. Sabitzer is not the only RB Leipzig personnel Spurs have been linked with of late. The north Londoners have also been credited with an interest in the Bundesliga club’s manager, Julian Nagelsmann as well.
The German tactician is one of the brightest young minds in the game currently and Tottenham are said to be interested in him amid question marks over the future of Jose Mourinho. The current manager could lose his job at the end of the season if Tottenham miss out on UCL qualification with Nagelsmann the favourite to replace him.
Addressing questions over whether Nagelsmann is headed to Tottenham and whether he would follow him to the London outfit, Sabitzer was coy in his response.
“I don’t know what Julian is up to. And I have to say: I have a contract until 2022, and not just until summer. It has become fashionable to ask the question on the future as soon as a player is in the last 18 months of their contract. But that doesn’t mean that everything has to be decided at that moment.”

Further elaborating on his situation and what the future holds in store, Sabitzer insisted that he wants to be a part of a team that wins trophies, whether it is at Leipzig or elsewhere. The Austrian international also added that he was not seeking a huge payday on his contract but just wants to win trophies.
It remains to be seen if either of Sabitzer or Nagelsmann make their way to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in the summer.
