Tottenham interested in Lazio’s Simone Inzaghi as next manager

According to Radiosei (h/t La Laziali), Tottenham Hotspur have identified Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi as one of the potential candidates to take over the reins at the club.

Tottenham are without a full-time manager currently following the sacking of Jose Mourinho last month, just prior to our Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.

Ryan Mason has been named in charge of the first-team on an interim basis till a new permanent manager is appointed. And the former Tottenham midfielder has, at times, looked out of his depth, which is expected given that this is his first job.

The hunt for a new manager continues on in the background though, with Inzaghi now emerging as the latest candidate to fill the vacancy left by Mourinho’s axing. The 45-year-old began his coaching career with the Lazio youth team and graduated to the role of the senior team manager in 2016.

During his time as in charge of the Italian capital outfit, Inzaghi has done a solid job, building a team capable of challenging for the top four on a consistent basis, while also winning a Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana trophies as well.

In addition to that, he has groomed and gotten the best out of top prospects like Sergej Milinkovic-Savic during his time with the Biancocelesti.

Inzaghi’s contract with Lazio expires at the end of the season and despite there being speculations that he has reached an agreement, nothing has been made official yet, meaning he could be available once the 2020/21 campaign is out of the way. (h/t La Laziali)

Inzaghi might not be the high-profile manager that fans would want but the 45-year-old has done some solid work with Lazio over the past half-a-decade. It will be interesting to see if Spurs do decide to go ahead and secure the Italian as the next manager.
