Manchester United star Marcus Rashford among six players linked with a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur
According to Football.London, Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is among the players who have been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer. He has endured a difficult season so far after returning to full fitness since the last injury issue.
Tottenham are expected to back Antonio Conte through signings after this season in an attempt to give him the tools to finally put an end to their trophy drought. Centre-forward is one such area that needs to be solidified, with Harry Kane lacking a backup option at this moment. Not to mention, his future at N17 is also uncertain, which creates the need for a striker.
Rashford, alongside Darwin Nunez and Mauro Icardi, has been linked with a move to join Spurs in the future as a result. However, the English club are in line to strengthen other areas, with players like Paulo Dybala, Stefan de Vrij, Tariq Lamptey and Keane Lewis-Potter being touted as possible incomings to the North London club.
Spurs need Rashford?
It is understandable why there are links to strikers but Rashford being among them is a bit puzzling, to say the least. Even though he is an attractive prospect at his best, he has not reached those heights since returning from his shoulder problem. Perhaps, the links may be down to his current contract, which is set to expire after next season.
Signing someone who has not fared well to replace Kane would not instil us with confidence in any case. However, if Conte believes he can get the best out of the Man United ace, only then the club should look to facilitate a transfer for the striker in the future.
The links to all the other players showcase that there is a change in ambitions, which does certainly go in line with Conte’s famed winning mentality. However, we should only look to bring in the best from the options as we do not want transfer failures to derail our success once again.
Icardi, just like Rashford, is a shadow of his former self and has struggled at Paris Saint-Germain so far. He would not be a reasonable solution in such a case when we have better options available. Nunez would be perfect and does make sense in the current context as he has been tearing it up with Benfica.

De Vrij can provide experience and the knowledge of playing under Conte and lead our struggling backline. Lamptey is a superstar in the making and could be the perfect choice to add to the right-wingback options. After all, we lack quality in that position, with Emerson Royal really struggling to impose himself since his move last summer.
Lewis-Potter and Dybala can increase depth and quality on the left and right-wing, respectively. We need a really strong squad to compete against the heavyweights like Manchester City and Liverpool. Signing the best among the players mentioned above can be useful, but it remains to be seen if any of these players will end up joining us this summer or not.
