Christian Eriksen reveals he has received transfer offers amid Tottenham Hotspur links

Christian Eriksen has confirmed that he has received offers from several clubs for a potential transfer amid links to a return to Tottenham Hotspur. He has enjoyed quite a rise to the top with Brentford after the unfortunate cardiac arrest he had suffered last summer.

Eriksen had joined the Bees after Inter Milan terminated his contract due to Serie A regulations. The Italian league does not allow players to play with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator prompting Inter to take that stance. He joined Brentford on a short term deal and has proven his worth ever since.

The Danish international’s future is up in the air, with his current contract set to expire this summer. Thomas Frank wants to keep hold of him but will face competition from Tottenham and Manchester United. Now, speaking in an interview with Viaplay via Football365 (h/t Manchester Evening News), Eriksen admitted to receiving proposals from elsewhere, but he did say that a decision will only be made after assessing all the options.

“I have different offers and options, which we are considering, and then we make a decision.”

At the same time, the 30-year-old may have hinted at a factor that could influence his decision at the end of this season. The midfielder has conveyed his desire to play in the Champions League, although he did say that it is not a necessity for him right now.

“I would love to play Champions League football again. I know how much fun it is, but it isn’t essential for me.”

Boost for Spurs?

Spurs could potentially be handed the initiative in the transfer race following this admission from the Bees ace. After all, Man United and his current club would not be able to offer CL football, which is still achievable for Antonio Conte’s side.

That being said, the North London club’s future in the prestigious competition is not in their own hands as Arsenal have to drop points for them to have a chance at qualification. Then again, the Dane did say that it is not a necessity for him, which could be helpful in case Tottenham fail to get into next term’s CL.

Despite that, it would be best if Conte’s team would be wary of the proposals from other interested parties to prevent getting complacent about their current position. After all, they could use an attacking midfielder who can instil a creative influx into the team in the future.

There have been times when we have struggled to break down the opposition or even generate a few shots on target due to the lack of clear cut chances. Having someone like Eriksen who excels in finding passing lanes could go a long way in solving our creativity issues.

Hence, Fabio Paratici must do his best to facilitate a reunion for our former star after the current campaign. Whether that will happen or not, though, remains to be seen but there is no denying that Eriksen would prove to be a useful asset to have in our squad as a creative force- be it in the starting XI or on the bench.
