Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur make an offer for Fenerbahce star Kim Min-jae
According to the Turkish outlet Fanatik (h/t Burnley Express), Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer to sign Fenerbahce star Kim Min-jae ahead of the summer transfer window. He has enjoyed quite a productive season so far despite moving to Europe only at the start of this season.
Min-jae’s splendid performances have not gone unnoticed, as he has already earned rave reviews for those displays. He has garnered attention from Premier League sides and has been linked with a move to England as a result. Tottenham have already expressed their interest, and they have now proposed a “serious” offer to facilitate a transfer.
However, Spurs would not have a free run at signing the South Korean as Everton are also in the fray at this moment. The latter, too, has made a “serious” proposal to secure his services as they look to rebuild their squad under Frank Lampard.
Spurs’ summer signing?
The 25-year-old has quickly become a regular for the Turkish outfit helping them to nine clean sheets this season from 39 matches across all competitions. The defender has scored a goal during that period, and he has shown all the signs of being ready to make a big move once again soon enough.
Antonio Conte’s side could use the Asian centre-back in their ranks, looking at how the boss employs a three-at-the-back formation. That means they need to possess good depth alongside quality options in the central defensive position to meet the needs of a long campaign.
Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Ben Davies are the three dependable options for Conte at this moment. However, Davies is not a natural centre-half, so it would be wise to have someone more suited to that role, even if he has impressed with flying colours in that makeshift role.
Joe Rodon, meanwhile, has been cast aside by the Italian boss, although he did feature recently against Burnley and did enjoy a solid spell like he always does. However, Conte seems to not trust Rodon, which paves the way for a potential departure this summer.

Davinson Sanchez has come back into the starting lineup recently following Romero’s injury and has made a case for himself. However, one could question whether he would still have a role once the Argentine defender returns from his setback.
Finally, Japhet Tanganga could also be moved out for a better option which makes sense why we are pursuing Min-jae. However, with the Toffees making a serious offer alongside us, we need to be wary of their threat in this pursuit. Then again, the Merseysiders are threatened with relegation, which could give us an edge if they drop down to the Championship.
