Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur receive price tag for Brighton star Marc Cucurella
According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur have been told the price tag it would take for them to sign Brighton star Marc Cucurella on a potential transfer. He has been excellent for his side since joining them after leaving Getafe at the start of this season.
Tottenham are looking to bolster their left wing-back position and are eager to bring in Cucurella for that reason. However, they will face competition from fellow Premier League sides like Chelsea and Manchester City for his signature. As such, a potential bidding war could take place if all the interested parties actively pursue him moving forward.
Now, Spurs have been told that it would take a minimum of £45million in transfer fees if they hope to prise the Spaniard away from Brighton and Hove Albion. Man City and the Blues have been alerted to this development as they are also eager to add him to their respective ranks.
Cucurella, a future signing for Spurs?
Those who closely followed the PL in this campaign would know that the 23-year-old has been among the best in his positions, if not the best, after accounting for the Seagulls’ quality compared to top teams. Hence, it would not be a surprise to see Cucurella get linked with a move to top clubs even though he moved to England only last summer.
We could use someone like the former Barcelona man in our ranks, considering how Sergio Reguilon’s future at N17 is surrounded by uncertainty at this moment. That could perhaps be down to his failure to build on the early promise he had shown under Antonio Conte.
Furthermore, Reguilon also failed to make use of the opportunities that came his way when Ryan Sessegnon had been out injured. Hence, Cucurella’s signing would make sense, especially when concerns remain over Sessegnon’s fitness woes, looking at his injury history.
However, Cucurella’s valuation is quite expensive for a defender, even with the impressive displays he has showcased this season. His energy to continuously bomb up and down the pitch would certainly suit Conte’s demanding tactics for the wing-back positions.

Whether that will be enough to convince Daniel Levy and co to make such a big investment or not remains to be seen. However, it would be best if they would keep an eye out for the competitors. Thomas Tuchel, for example, is looking to restructure his defence, and Cucurella meets the requirements with Marcos Alonso looking likely to leave and Ben Chilwell returning from a major injury.
Pep Guardiola’s side are an attractive destination indeed, and they seem to have already made an impact on Cucurella. After all, the La Masia graduate recently admitted that he could not simply refuse an offer from the Citizens because of the opportunity that they would present to him.
