Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte and transfer chief Fabio Paratici held a crucial talk
According to the Guardian, Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte and transfer chief Fabio Paratici have held a conversation on crucial matters like transfer targets, the Harry Kane contract, and the manager’s future on Friday at Turin.
Antonio Conte signed an 18-months contract while joining Tottenham Hotspur last November. Even though he has an option to extend the contract, the Italian manager sought a crucial meeting with managing director Fabio Paratici to understand the club’s interests and plans before he decided on his future.
Fabio Paratici flew to Turin for the meet and the duo had a detailed conversation on several important topics like the manager’s future, the club’s transfer approach and plans regarding the renewal deal of some available players.
It is believed that the former Inter Milan manager has pledged his future at Tottenham for the next season, meaning he isn’t going anywhere before his contract term ends. Even though he hasn’t revealed whether he would sign an extension, his commitment for the next season is already a big boost for the club.
The talks involved giving a contract extension to Harry Kane who only has 2 years left in his current deal. They also discussed potential transfer targets with moves for Gleison Bremer, Djed Spence and Alessandro Bastoni.
Tottenham would also try to offload players like Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Bryan Gil, Steven Bergwijn and Joe Rodon. Bergwijn’s utility in attack would certainly be missed if he is sold but the other players don’t look like, at least as of now, that they have a future under Conte.
Good news for the team?
Antonio Conte publicly criticized the board’s transfer approach in the January transfer window as he might have felt that he didn’t get everything he needed. Nevertheless, Conte led the team to a top-four finish, something which looked very difficult to get when Nuno Espirito Santo was in charge of the team.
However, the path from here wouldn’t be easy for Tottenham and Antonio Conte as the top tier English teams are eyeing to improve their squad for next season. Quality reinforcements are also needed at Spurs and it seems the board has gotten the required financial backing to chase crucial targets.

Antonio Conte has a glorious CV as he has won a lot in England and Italy previously. Hence, in order to keep him at the club beyond his current contract, Tottenham might have to do more than just seal UEFA Champions League qualification.
For this, it is important that the board and the manager work in tandem. Keeping Kane at the club, hopefully, is the priority for us and we build from there. This summer is about strengthening the team in multiple positions, rather than losing more of our key players.
