Fabrizio Romano: Tottenham Hotspur set to complete Yves Bissouma transfer from Brighton
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Tottenham Hotspur are set to complete the transfer of Yves Bissouma from Brighton shortly. His addition would undoubtedly boost their prospects of enjoying a successful season under Antonio Conte.
Earlier, it was claimed that Tottenham and Bissouma are close to agreeing to the personal terms involved in the move. With this update, it could be suggested that common ground has been reached, which has led to this situation. Final contacts will be made between both clubs later today, after which the contracts will be signed soon.
Spurs and Brighton and Hove Albion will discuss the payment terms in that meeting, having already agreed to €29million in transfer fees with some add-ons as well. A medical has already been scheduled, and an official announcement can be expected in the coming days once tests are completed.
Bissouma to Spurs, Here we go!
Football.London further states that the Malian midfielder has already flown to the UK following international duty to undergo medical, which will take place today. While Bissouma did pick up an injury blow while playing for his national team, he confirmed on social media that the issue is not serious at all.
The 25-year-old’s signing is a much-needed one as we only brought in Rodrigo Bentancur last January. The likes of Dele Alli, Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele departed back then, with Harry Winks now expected to follow suit in this summer transfer window.
Lo Celso and Ndombele have returned from their respective loan spells, but since Conte had allowed them to leave in the first place, it would not be too much of a reach to say that they are not in his plans for the upcoming campaign. Bissouma would greatly help to maintain quality and depth and help us in our pursuit to achieve success under the boss.
Conte has often utilised a two-man midfield pairing which could remain the same beyond this summer. As such, Bissouma’s addition will bring in hefty competition to these spots, with Bentancur, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp vying for the starting places.
Bissouma’s steel and fighting spirit off the ball would be welcomed in Conte’s system, where a player must always be ready to put in their maximum effort for the manager. That being said, people often underrate his technical abilities as he has been excellent for Graham Potter in his possession-based system as well.

Bissouma’s ability to constantly maintain the tempo and progress the ball would be useful to have control during matches. Furthermore, his ability to combine his athleticism and dribbling skills under pressure makes him an outlet when put under pressure. All in all, his addition would be of great use to Conte and his attempt to bring titles to N17.
