Agent tells Tottenham Hotspur to match AS Roma’s valuation for Nicolo Zaniolo
Agent Claudio Vigorelli is apparently urging Tottenham Hotspur to match AS Roma’s valuation for Nicolo Zaniolo.
This is according to Italian outlet Il Tempo (h/t the Express), who claim that I Giallorossi value the Italy international at £40million. Zaniolo has been an important part of Jose Mourinho’s side.
He was a constant in their starting XI as they won the UEFA Europa Conference League. However, Roma could now cash in on him if their valuation is met.
The surprise signing of Paulo Dybala on a free transfer after he ran down his contract at Juventus gives the Portuguese manager a selection headache. While there is the possibility of both playing together, Dybala could replace Zaniolo in the starting XI for the time being.
Should Spurs make a move?
Spurs have been looking to make an offer for a loan move with an obligation to buy the former Inter Milan star for £21million next summer. It remains to be seen if Roma would entertain such an offer.
It has been claimed by Dean Jones (h/t Football.London) as covered by TTLAB last month that Spurs have set aside up to £60 million for a ‘luxury signing’ this summer. Could Zaniolo fall in that category?
It depends on the definition of the word ‘luxury’ here. If it means a world-class player that will instantly slot into our starting XI and increase our quality, then perhaps not.

Zaniolo, as good as he may be as a right-winger, would have a hard time displacing the in-form Dejan Kulusevski. If ‘luxury’, however, means an expensive signing that the club can live without, then by all means the club would be smart to make a move for Zaniolo.
