Tottenham Hotspur beat Inter Milan and Brighton in Destiny Udogie transfer race

Tottenham Hotspur fended off competition from Brighton & Hove Albion and Inter Milan in the race to sign Udinese starlet Destiny Udogie, according to the Guardian.

The Lilywhites have been linked with a move for the Italy U21 international in recent weeks. It is believed that they have reached an agreement for a transfer whereby he will return to Udinese on loan for this season.

The transfer will cost Spurs around £17 million. Udogie is an important part of the Serie A outfit’s first-team setup and played in 35 Serie A games last season, scoring five goals and dishing out three assists.

Brighton’s interest in the youngster makes sense given the fact that Marc Cucurella has joined Chelsea this summer. As for Inter, they lost Ivan Perisic to a free transfer, with the Croatia international joining Spurs.

Spurs set to welcome Udogie

Simone Inzaghi only has Dalbert as a recognised option in the left-wing-back position. But none of that would be of much concern to Tottenham.

The fans can celebrate another signing this summer, pending official announcement, in what has been a highly successful transfer window. Holding onto your best players is also an underrated aspect during this time of the year.

Spurs have not only done that, but added to their squad with quality all over the pitch. Hopefully, Udogi’s announcement is done soon and he goes on to have a successful campaign in Italy before moving to Hotspur Way.

Ryan Sessegnon’s performance against Southampton, meanwhile, would give Conte a headache. He might have the problem of having too many quality players down that flank, especially if Sergio Reguilon stays.
