Spurs Transfer News: It is an ‘open race’ to sign Tottenham Hotspur star and Valencia target Bryan Gil
According to Fabrizio Romano, it is still an open race to sign Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil, with Valencia interested in the winger.
The 21-year-old arrived at Spurs last summer in a cash-plus-player deal that saw Erik Lamela head to Sevilla. Some fans would already be thinking that Los Nervionenses got the better end of the deal.
Whenever Gil played for us last season – and it wasn’t a lot of times- he looked like he could use some experience before being thrown into the shark tank. He seemed to be taking one touch too many on the ball and his physique wasn’t up to the mark.
As a result, he was sent out on loan to Valencia for the second half of last season. Gil struggled to impress there as well but at least he saw minutes more often.
Gil to leave this summer?
Now, it is claimed that Gennaro Gattuso’s team are after his signature. Romano doesn’t clarify if it is a permanent move or a temporary one, but it would be sensible to presume it’s the latter.
After all, he signed just last year for us. The Spaniard still has a long way to go before he truly reaches his prime years.
Currently, it would be very hard for him to oust Dejan Kulusevski from the starting lineup down the right-hand side, with Lucas Moura also waiting for playing time. Gil was an unused substitute in our game against Southampton last weekend.

We ended up winning 4-1, with goals from Kulusevski, Eric Dier, Ryan Sessegnon, and an own goal from the Saints. It remains to be seen if Gil will still be a Tottenham player by August 14, when we travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea.
