Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur are in negotiations for Daniel James
Tottenham Hotspur are in negotiations with Leeds United for the signing of Daniel James, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter. Spurs are looking at a loan deal with a buy option.
However, it will not be plain sailing for the North London side to get a deal over the line. Other clubs are also in the race for the 24-year-old. And it is up to the former Manchester United forward to decide as he’s happy in Jesse Marsch’s side.
Tottenham have other names such as Hakim Ziyech and Yannick Carrasco on their radar. However, there has been no movement from Spurs for the two players.
Romano also claims that Leeds are looking at Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Hwang Hee-chan and PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo as possible replacements for James. If the Welsh national were to leave, the Elland Road have two options they have an eye on.
James started his career at Swansea and made a name for himself in the Championship. Man United came calling in the summer of 2019 and the 24-year-old immediately became an important member of the Red Devils’ team.
However, James lost his place at Old Trafford quickly and moved to Leeds last year. For the West Yorkshire side, the Wales international was a regular under Marcelo Bielsa and has been trusted by Marsch as well.
At the moment, Tottenham have a host of talent up front. Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski have started the season together. While the South Korean has gotten off to a slow start, we’ve still looked sharp up front.
On the bench, Antonio Conte can count on Richarlison. The former Evertonian has come off the bench in recent games and shone. Lucas Moura is also an option for the Italian tactician.
