Manchester United could be without Christian Eriksen and Anthony Martial vs Tottenham

Manchester United could have to field a starting XI without Christian Eriksen and Anthony Martial against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night at Old Trafford, as per Manchester Evening News.

The France international has been sidelined for the last two games with a back injury. Eriksen, meanwhile, missed the 0-0 draw against Newcastle United with illness.

Ten Hag expected Martial to be in contention this weekend. It remains to be seen if the two pass the final fitness tests before the crunch encounter in Manchester.

The former AS Monaco attacker is a potent threat on his day, as he showed in United’s pre-season games this summer. However, even without him, Ten Hag will have the luxury of fielding a five-time Ballon d’Or up front.

No Eriksen and Martial vs Spurs?

As for Eriksen, he could be denied the chance for a second reunion at Spurs this year. Earlier, he played in a 0-0 draw against Spurs in Brentford’s colours in gameweek 34.

The Dutch manager will have the option to field Fred or Scott McTominay in that position along with former Real Madrid superstar Casemiro.

Hence, United aren’t really devoid of options for this game against us – even if Martial and Eriksen are absent. The Denmark international has been a crucial playmaker for them but they have the quality to make up for his absence.

More Tottenham News:

With the game being at Old Trafford, a point won’t be the end of the world but hopefully manager Antonio Conte does not set up for a draw from minute 1. This is a game we can win.
