Transfer News: Manchester City are lining up a £110 million bid for Tottenham Hotspur target Josko Gvardiol
According to journalist Alfredo Pedalled (h/t The Sun), Manchester City are lining up a £110 million bid for RB Leipzig and Croatia centre-back Josko Gvardiol, amid Tottenham Hotspur interest.
The 20-year-old has caught the eye of everyone with his phenomenal performances in the World Cup in Qatar. The centre-back played every minute of Croatia’s run till the semi-finals, but he could not help them reach the final again as they lost 3-0 to Argentina.
However, his performances have not gone unnoticed with a host of clubs interested in him including Spurs. Rivals Chelsea saw £80 million bid for him get rejected during the summer.

City can now end the race for the defender after the regaining Premier League champions are willing to spend the big bucks on the young centre-back. Should the move go through, it would make him the most expensive defender in history.
Antonio Conte needs to reinforce his defence ahead of the second half of the season. While Christian Romero and Eric Dier have stood out, others are yet to step up this season.
Ben Davies has been used on the left side of the three-man defence for too long and a natural player is needed in that position. While loanee Clement Lenglet does offer some backup, he cannot be considered a permanent solution.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is known to be stingy when it comes to spending money in the transfer market. While it is highly unlikely that he will be willing to match or up City’s bid, he could at least try to convince the defender to make the move to north London.
