Tottenham Hotspur will not pursue a deal for former Chelsea manager Graham Potter

According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur will not pursue Graham Potter in their search for a manager after Antonio Conte departed the club a few weeks ago.

Potter has recently been sacked by Chelsea and many wondered whether Daniel Levy would make a move for the former Chelsea manager again now, after missing out on him in 2021 after the mid-season sacking of Jose Mourinho.

Potter, then the manager at Brighton & Hove Albion, had rejected Spurs’ advances as he was not in favour of working with Levy.

It seems that the reason came out to Levy and he would not be pursuing the Englishman, who is deemed to be interested in taking over the job at Southampton if they survive relegation.

On the other hand, Spurs’ managerial seat is still vacant since Conte left and Christian Stellini is the interim manager till an able replacement is found.

It is important that we solve this issue as soon as possible with a number of top managers in Julien Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique and Mauricio Pochettino currently available in the market.

Levy’s preferred choice is Nagelsmann, who was sacked by FC Bayern Munich, last month and has previously shown affirmation towards the North London club.

However, with the Chelsea job position also vacant, Todd Boehly could also make a swoop for the young German manager who is speculated to take his time out till the summer before arriving at a decision.

For us to attract the top managers and players, we would have to secure the UEFA Champions League qualification and finish the season in the top four.

Hence, the last hurdle of the season is very crucial for us and hopefully, we are able to move up from the current fifth position. A good game against a tough team in Brighton could bring the much-needed boost for a good final run-in.
