Al Ahli are looking to sign Tottenham target Roger Ibanez

According to popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Saudi Arabia club Al Ahli is looking to sign talented Brazilian defender Roger Ibanez from AS Roma this summer.

Tottenham have been linked heavily with a move for Ibanez throughout this summer. The fact that they just agreed to a move for Micky van de Ven could indicate that their interest in the Roma man might have ended.

Al Ahli have really made solid signings this summer. They have managed to snap up Roberto Firmino, Eduardo Mendy, Allan Saint-Maximin and Riyad Mahrez and it looks like they have no intention of stopping.

This is where Roger Ibanez comes in. The talented young defender has been a pillar for Jose Mourinho’s Roma in the past seasons and it comes as no surprise that he has interest from the likes of Tottenham.

At just 24, Roger Ibanez might not want to move to Saudi so soon in his career. However, the finances involved in the deal might just be enough to tempt certain players as it did with Ruben Neves.

Another issue with Ibanez is that except for Tottenham and Nottingham Forest, he does not seem to really have interest from elsewhere. It remains to be seen if we still remain interested in him after recent developments.

Assuming that we still want Ibanez, it would be perfect for Tottenham. The Brazilian centre-back has a lot of qualities that Ange Postecoglou wants in a defender and it is not like Spurs’ defensive issues are sorted out with Van de Ven.

AS Roma seem intent on letting Ibanez leave for the right offer. When a club from Saudi steps in, it is generally tough for us to match them financially and we can only hope that the player is convinced by sporting reasons.

Ibanez’s future is really intriguing. Let’s see if Tottenham still make a move for him. If we do, he’ll be a great signing for us.
