Napoli have joined the race for Tottenham Hotspur target and Barcelona star Clement Lenglet
According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Italian giants Napoli have joined the race for talented Barcelona centre-back Clement Lenglet who is also on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur.
The out-of-favour Frenchmen joined Tottenham on loan last season from the Spanish club. He had a mixed season at the N17. Whilst his performances were almost always solid, they never really seemed out of the world.
Tottenham however did not have a buy clause on the player and he returned to Barcelona upon the conclusion of his loan spell. They have still not managed to reach an agreement with the Catalan club.
Spurs continue to be interested in a move for Clement Lenglet. However, they have also prioritised other defensive targets. Signing the Frenchman though means that the player might already be adapted to the club.
Let’s be honest with one thing about Lenglet. He will definitely not be a key component for Tottenham from a squad perspective but he definitely cannot be a starter. If we sign him to be a starter, we might be making a mistake.
However, there is no doubting the fact that Lenglet will suit a Postecoglou team perfectly. He is comfortable on the ball and is great at driving out with the ball at his feet. He always seems to have a mistake in him though.
The 28-year-old is also on the radar of AC Milan and Napoli. Barcelona at this point just want to get him off their books. They might choose to sell him to the highest bidder and whoever makes the right offer will get him.
