Atletico Madrid propose loan with obligation to buy deal for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Tottenham Hotspur have been presented with an offer from Atletico Madrid to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on loan with an obligation to buy, according to the Daily Mail.
Los Rojiblancos are willing to take the Denmark international on a temporary move in the ongoing transfer window. However, they are open to including a fee of around £40 million to get a hold of his signature on a permanent basis in the future.
Apart from the La Liga outfit, Premier League rivals Manchester United have also been linked with the 28-year-old. However, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will sign him to bolster their engine room.
Atletico have been interested in Hojbjerg for some time now. The Metropolitano Stadium side were close to signing the Danish national earlier this summer, but they were unable to come to a consensus.
Tottenham signed the midfielder in the summer of 2020 from Southampton. Subsequently, he has been a key player for the North London side over the years.
In the previous campaign, Hojbjerg was one of the few players at Spurs who put in some decent displays. However, it looks like Ange Postecoglou does not have the midfielder in his plans.
Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr and James Maddison have formed the midfield trio at Tottenham in the first few matches under the Australian manager. The gaffer has been able to get the best out of the North London side in the middle of the park.
Hijbjerg has been relegated to getting a few minutes off the bench in the current campaign. Although, the midfielder did start for Tottenham against Fulham as Postecoglou made wholesale changes to the team. Unfortunately, we lost in the second round of the Carabao Cup on penalties.
