Harry Kane takes a dig at Tottenham with ‘top club mentality’ claim
Former Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has taken a dig at the North London club by claiming that it lacks ‘top club mentality’ like his new club, Bayern Munich.
Kane claimed that not winning a couple of games was tolerated at Tottenham, unlike Bayern where even victories are not considered satisfactory if the quality of play is not up to the expected mark.
The English superstar claimed that this is what separated the top clubs from the rest of the lot. It is clear that Harry Kane feels that Tottenham never had the mentality of the top club and to be fair, who knows better than him?
For years now, Tottenham fans have grown used to mediocrity and at some level have become comfortable with it. This is also the main reason why the club has failed to win any trophies in recent times.
This is also the reason why we were unable to retain Kane who had grown fed up with the attitude here and decided to jump ship this summer. Our former star has also had a great start to life in Munich.
Speaking in an interview as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, here is what Kane had to say.
“We wanted to win at Spurs… but if you went a couple of games without winning it wasn’t a disaster. At Bayern you HAVE to win every game. After winning 3-1 and 4-0 first two games… there was talk about not being too happy about way we played! Top club mentality”
While none of what Kane has said is false, things are changing at Tottenham. Under Ange Postecoglou, the club look reborn at least in recent weeks. Things certainly look upwards from here on.
The players are happy, the fans are happy and the results are there for everyone to see. There are not many times that a Tottenham fan has felt like this in recent years and exciting times lie ahead.
