Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson
Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Genoa forward and attacking midfielder Albert Gudmundsson for the upcoming summer transfer window. The North Londoners have been linked with a move for the Icelandic forward for some time now.
The 26-year-old has emerged as one of the most intriguing prospects in Italy this season, and he has been consistently producing important outputs for Alberto Gilardino’s team. In 30 appearances this season, Gudmundsson has scored 13 goals and provided 4 assists.
Daniel Levy & Co. will have to compete with the Italian duo of AS Roma and Inter Milan if any transfers materialize in the summer. Another Serie A club, Fiorentina, tried to bring in Albert in the January transfer window, but their offer was rejected by the 26-year-old’s employers. The increased competition going into the off-season makes it almost impossible for Fiorentina to land his services.
Levy looking to leverage Genoa relationship to sign the Icelandic international
Spurs have come a long way in a short time under Ange Postecoglou, and the summer window will provide an opportunity to widen the squad’s ceiling, who better to do it than a player likened to Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah?
The Lilywhites are moving most decisively, per Italian outlet Primocanale, to sign Albert Gudmundsson.
Tottenham will hope to leverage their relationship with Genoa in order to land the Iceland international. This will be the second time Daniel Levy will be on the negotiation table in as many windows after the acquisition of Radu Dragusin in the winter window, while Spence went the other way on a loan deal.
