Tottenham show faith in young midfielder Skipp amid transfer interest
Tottenham Hotspur have sealed their first signing of the summer as the North Londoners acquire Archie Gray from Leeds United in a highly anticipated deal. Spurs defender Joe Rodon, who spent the last campaign at Elland Road, will move to the Yorkshire-based club as part of the agreement with the Championship side, albeit in a separate deal.
While the Whites were speaking with the club about signing Joe Rodon, they also inquired about another Hotspur Way academy graduate, Oliver Skipp, in the deal for Archie Gray, per Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold.

Leeds United are managed by Daniel Farke, who is a big admirer of the highly-rated Spurs academy star. The German manager worked with the 23-year-old during his Championship-winning season with Norwich City in the 2020–21 season. During the season Skipp played under Farke, he was a part of the 2021 PFA Team of the Year owing to his impressive performances at Carrow Road.
Irrespective of interests from the Championship side, the Lilywhites are not looking to part ways with the 23-year-old and are expected to keep hold of Skipp beyond this summer. While he faces high competition to get minutes under his belt on Ange Postecoglou‘s roster, the club values his potential and views him as a key part of the future.
Skipp remains integral to Tottenham’s long-term plans for success.
He made 24 appearances in all competitions in the recently concluded campaign; however, the Englishman only started seven games and accumulated around 900 minutes of playing time under his belt.
The club signed him in 2008, and Skipp has come through the youth levels at White Hart Lane, steadily developing into a promising talent.
