Keith Wyness expects Tottenham Hotspur target Pedro Neto to stay at Wolves this summer
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, ex-Everton chief Keith Wyness expects talented 24-year-old winger Pedro Neto to stay at Wolverhampton Wanderers despite interest from many top PL clubs including Tottenham.
Journalist Paul O’Keefe revealed a few days ago that Tottenham are back in the race for the Wolves winger after previously backing out from a move for him. The aforementioned Football Insider report has also mentioned interest from Manchester City, Arsenal and Newcastle United.
Neto, the Portuguese winger has been at the Molineux Stadium for quite some time now. Developing slowly yet surely, Neto finally had a proper breakout campaign last time around which has prompted interest from top clubs.
The 24-year-old, who has a contract with the English club until 2027 (Transfermarkt), played 24 times across all competitions before injury struck, scoring three goals and providing a further 11 assists.
Neto is currently on Euros duty with Portugal where his side take France on in the quarterfinals tonight. However, Roberto Martinez has not really counted on the Wolves man and has used him sparingly so far.
Speaking about Neto’s situation, here is what Keith Wyness had to say about whether the 24-year-old would leave Wolves
“I had a value of about £40million in mind, I think that’s about the right level. But I think he’ll end up staying this summer. That’s what would make the most sense for all parties. Wolves are a club operating at about the level I think Neto is at right now.”
Equally comfortable playing on either wing and through the middle, one thing that Neto brings to the table is the versatility. A left-footed winger, the 24-year-old can cut in from the right but also go down the left, making him quite a rare sight in football.
Tottenham’s interest in the talented winger is understandable. If they manage to sign Neto, they will be covering for two positions on their team sheet. He would be yet another Brennan Johnsonesque signing for the squad.
