Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Lecce wonderkid Patrick Dorgu
According to Italian publication Pianeta Lecce, Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Danish wonderkid Patrick Dorgu from Italian side Lecce with Arsenal also keeping close tabs on the player.
In fact, the North London rivals are ahead of Spurs in the race to sign the teenage sensation having already scouted him a few times last season. They might be readying an offer to make for the 19-year-old.
Dorgu is predominantly a left-back who can also play as a left-wing-back and a left-winger should the need arise. An attack-minded defender as one would have guessed from the previous statement, he has all the attributes to become an excellent modern-day left-back.
The teenager made 34 appearances across all competitions for Lecce last season, scoring twice and providing one assist. Despite the less-than-flattering numbers, it’s his performances on the field that have really caught the eye.
Despite being very young and relatively new to the highest stage, Dorgu already seems to have the makings to play for a top club and understandably, clubs like Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool are eyeing a move for him.
When it comes to scouting in the Serie A and the Italian league in general, there are not many clubs in England that can claim they know better than Spurs. Since the time of Fabio Paratici (both officially and off the record), Spurs have been excellent in their transfer picks.
Rodrigo Bentancur, Dejan Kulusevski, Cristian Romero, Guglielmo Vicario and Destiny Udogie all came from the Italian top flight and have gone on to become some of the club’s better players during this period.
Right now, Udogie is an undisputed starter at the left-back position having taken to the Premier League like fish-to-water last season. However, Ben Davies as the backup fails to inspire us with much confidence.

Dorgu is pretty much a raw talent with a lot to work on with respect to his game but being the deputy to Udogie would help him learn a lot and grow his game, working with a manager like Postecoglou. If the opportunity presents itself, Spurs must take it.
