Tottenham Hotspur will have to decide between Pedro Neto and Eberechi Eze
According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur will have to choose between signing Portuguese forward Pedro Neto and English midfielder Eberechi Eze this summer.
It has emerged that Spurs might be able to sign only one of the duo this summer. Either target would command a fee of around £50-60m, thereby rendering the North London club of pulling off only one signing.
Pedro Neto had an excellent season for Wolves until an injury curtailed his progress. In many ways, it was his breakthrough season in the Premier League and one that made the top clubs sit up and take notice.
Eze on the other hand, along with Michael Olise emerged as two genuine superstars for Crystal Palace. Under Oliver Glasner, the Eagles had a decent end to the season and the 26-year-old’s performances earned him an England call-up for the Euros.
With 17 G/A last season in 31 appearances across all competitions, Eze showed that he had the end product to go along with his obvious talent. His ability to play in attacking midfield as well as left-wing is an added benefit.
Neto on the other hand who also was called up to Roberto Martinez’s squad for the Euros played only 24 games for Wolves last season owing to an injury and still managed to come up with an impressive 14 G/A.
Right now, it’s up to Ange Postecoglou to decide which bullet he wants to bite. One gives him an attacking midfielder who can play on the wings and the other gives him a pure winger who can fill in at attacking midfield.
Considering the fact that he is English and has a huge future in the game, Spurs might be tempted to go with Eberechi Eze. However, we must not forget that Pedro Neto is extremely talented too and we are a bit light in the wings.
