Tottenham ace Emerson Royal makes his feelings clear amidst AC Milan links
Speaking to Globo, Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has made his feelings clear about his future amidst links to Serie A giants AC Milan.
The Brazilian right-back has been continually linked with a move away from the North London club. Spurs are willing to let him go too and have been in negotiations with the Rossoneri for quite some time now.
It emerged a few days ago that his ex-club Barcelona wanted to rival AC Milan for his signature. However, there seemed to be no merit to those claims with it looking like a pressure tactic from his agent to lure the Italian giants into making a quick decision.
Tottenham in turn seemed willing to keep the player as a part of the squad should the negotiations fall through. Emerson, being the ‘professional’ that he is, has returned to training at Hotspur Way despite a transfer being in the works.
Negotiations are often like a chess game with each move designed to outsmart the opponent in the long run. All these are classic negotiation tactics to pressurize an interested party into making a quick move.
Speaking about the situation, here is what Tottenham star Emerson Royal had to say about his future
“I’ve always made it clear. I’m very competitive and it bothers me a lot to be left on the bench. I was upset and I told the coach about it. I’ve always been very professional, put the most intensity into training, but this situation doesn’t work for me. I don’t know what my future will be. I am not a player who sits on the bench. I want to play, and if it’s not here, I understand that, but I want to go somewhere I can play. I want to play for the Brazil team and that is unlikely if I don’t play at club level, so I have to look for new places.”
Emerson Royal has been as clear as he can be. This is as explicit as a ‘come-get-me-call’ can get. Very clearly, the 25-year-old wants to leave Tottenham as soon as he can and explore a new adventure elsewhere.
One really cannot blame the ex-Barcelona man here. With Pedro Porro establishing himself as one of the best right-backs in the league, it’s almost impossible for Emerson to get regular game time in his favoured position.
