Max Kilman sale raises the bar for Tottenham Hotspur’s Neto pursuit
Tottenham Hotspur have been looking at Wolves winger Pedro Neto for a possible move in the ongoing window; however, Sky Sports reporter Dan Bardell believes that the North Londoners may be priced out of a move for the Portuguese winger after Max Kilman bid adieu to Wolves to join West Ham United.
The Hammers confirmed the acquisition of Max Kilman on Saturday in a deal that could rise to £40 million, per BBC Sport. This sale could hamper Spurs move for the 24-year-old winger, as Tottenham are “the most concrete suitor” at the moment amid a £60 million price tag.
Can Spurs afford him?
Dan Bardell believes that the aforementioned fee for Max Kilman would be a benchmark for Wolverhampton Wanderers, and they would be looking to take the fee for Neto even higher in any potential transfer negotiations.
Bardell, in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, said:
“I think now that Wolves have sold Max Kilman, it would take an even higher fee to get Pedro Neto from Wolves.”
“He’s a very good player and effective in the Premier League, but Tottenham already have players like Johnson and Kulusevski in that position.”
“I think a striker should be more of a priority, especially given that the transfer budget won’t be endless this summer.”
“There are just more pressing areas to improve, no matter how good Neto could prove to be.“
The Lilywhites have a long-standing interest in bringing Pedro Neto to the N17, despite his consistent struggles with injuries. He finished the last season with two goals and nine assists, despite only making twenty appearances in the English top tier.
If Neto were to sign for Tottenham, the winger that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola called ‘incredible‘ would face ample competition. However, his versatile profile would make him a useful option in multiple facets of the game.
