Manchester United to re-sign Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur are set to offload Spanish full-back Sergio Reguilon from the club. Manchester United and West Ham are vying to sign the player from the North London club. Spurs are set to part ways with the Spaniard after four years of travel, per Team Talk.
The Real Madrid academy graduate signed for Tottenham in 2020 during Jose Mourinho’s time following his successive stint with the Spanish club Sevilla, where he won the Europa League. The Spanish international was expected to shine in the N17 but the player has failed to thrive in the North London club. The player has only scored three goals and eight assists in his 67 games for the club so far.
The full-back has spent the first half of the recently concluded season in Old Trafford with the Reds but he failed to create an impact in the Premier League club, which led the club to cut short his contract. The Spaniard was moved to Brentford for the second half of the season, where he has provided four assists in 16 appearances for the Bees.
Reguilon has returned to the North London club after his loan spell with the Bees. He is currently entering his final year of contract with Tottenham. Considering his underwhelming performances with the loan clubs, Spurs are preparing to sell the full-back in the summer. The club doesn’t want to lose him for free next year, and they are asking for £10m for his service.
Tottenham to cash-in Reguilon
Ange Postecoglou is currently revamping the squad for the new season and also constantly working in the transfer market for some additions to bolster the squad. The manager is delighted with the current left full-back options, Destiny Udogie and Micky van de Ven.
Tottenham signed the Spanish international from Real Madrid for £32m which was a hefty amount for a full back. The club are asking for £10m for his service, which is less than a third of what they originally paid for him in 2020.
Manchester United are trying to re-sign the player, and the interest is surprising as they cut short his loan contract last year. West Ham are also keen on acquiring his signature, as Julen Lopetegui is an admirer of the Spaniard.
