Tottenham Hotspur among frontrunners for Eberechi Eze
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze for a move in the ongoing summer transfer window, and the North Londoners have received an unlikely boost to his signatures.
The Lilywhites have progressed in abundance since Ange Postecoglou took charge of White Hart Lane last summer. The club has gone from a struggling Big Six to one of the most exciting teams in Europe. They are looking to build on their progress as they look to bring marquee players this summer, and that is where their pursuit of Eze comes into play. Described as Danny Murphy as an ‘unbelievable talent’, the Englishman has a huge future in the game.
Boost for Spurs?
The 26-year-old has been linked with a Crystal Palace exit this summer, and over the past few weeks, the Lilywhites have been prioritising a move for the Arsenal academy reject as they aim to bolster creativity in Ange’s roster. Albeit, they will have to contend with Manchester City and Arsenal for his signature, as both clubs are keen on securing his services.
However, while Spurs look to beat possibly the two most prestigious clubs in the English top tier, The Athletic have backed the existence of a £60 million release clause in Eze’s contract after also acknowledging Tottenham’s interest in the player.
The report also states that Daniel Levy & Co. will not have to worry about Man City pouncing for Eze this summer. It states that Pep Guardiola’s men have been looking at the 26-year-old since last summer; however, they will not be pushing any offer for his signatures this summer.
