Tottenham Hotspur eyeing 16-year-old midfielder Boris Lum from Hertha BSC
According to Bild, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing talented German wonder kid Boris Lum from Hertha BSC, with Manchester City, Ajax, and Bayern Munich keeping an eye out on the 16-year-old.
Lum is a young German midfielder who plays in the U19 Hertha team in the German youth league. The midfielder joined Hertha at the age of eight, and he developed at the club through consistent hard work. Currently, he is one of the most highly-rated prodigies in Germany.
The U17 German international has already broken into Hertha’s U19 team and Hertha senior team manager Cristian Fiel forced the club to bring him to first-team training sessions. His improvements in the German club haven’t gone unnoticed. Several top-tier clubs across Europe are vying for his signature.
Ange to bolster the squad with youngsters
After the arrival of Australian manager Ange Postecoglou to N17, the club has shifted their focus to young prodigies. The manager has immense trust in the youth, and the North London club has already completed the signings of Luka Vuskovic, Lucas Bergvall, and Archie Gray under Ange. The manager would have a plan to use the young players to bolster the squad who can also be assets for the club in future.
He is also interested in adding Lum to his current squad, who is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also be used as a central midfielder. His defensive awareness, tackling ability, and physical strength can help the club in the upcoming season.
But his inexperience in playing in a top-flight league will be an issue to include him in the squad. Ange may use him as a backup option or try to send him as a loanee to gain experience. The club has already advanced the signing by initiating talks with his representatives. Tottenham have completed a number of meetings with them and will reach an agreement in the coming days.
